HORSEPROBLEMS NZ IS NOW CLOSED FOR THE HOLIDAYS. We are reopening on 10th January 2020. You can still order but please note that new orders or messages will not be processed or answered until we reopen on the 10th.
It is basically impossible to find a set of conventional english reins that are long enough to be able to let the head of a horse loose on the trail riding situation without having to resort to holding the buckle.
One of the many reasons for the ruination of the mouths of horses is riders subtly hanging onto the mouth via short reins, often due to spooky horses or riders not being confident. Extended reins allow you to ride with your hands positioned normally and able to react when necessary but with the extra length to allow your horse relief.
Normal reins are usually 140cm long, these extended reins come in 175cm or 187cm.
