Fixed rings so that the bit is held at the correct height in the mouth very steadily giving increased consistency in contact and stability across the tongue. Top ring also ensures the bit doesn't run through the mouth thereby helping with turning the horse similar to the FM bit. Exerts no poll pressure and as such are classified by FEI as a snaffle bit.
Top rings curve out slightly to reduce pressure on the sides of the horses face.
All sizes: fixed ring 20mm (inside); side ring 50x67mm overall.
Barrel sizes: 4–4.75" = 20mm; 5–5.50" = 28mm; 6–7" = 30mm.
Available with barrel and in sizes 4.0" to 7".
IMPORTANT FITTING INFORMATION:
The HP Barrel bits fit a little larger than the regular single or double jointed bits due to the mouth shaping. Measure the horses mouth yourself (using rope or twine in the mouth where the bit goes, thumbs FLUSH on each side, measure between your thumbs), PLEASE don't go on the size of your existing bit. Then go down 1/4" or down to the nearest size. These bits are designed to fit slightly lower in the mouth and have approx 1cm of arm outside the mouth—if you can see the elbow of the arm, it is too large.
